true and bubs+. You were maybe referring to some movie/tv there as a comparison and I think that's right on the money as well. the cliched 'games' are prob no worse than cliched movies/tv at least.

well maybe my movies comparison isn't fair since games are closely linked with rapidly evolving tech and therefore will always have a significant amount of variation between titles.
but what I'm saying is if any sequel was never fully conceived in devs' minds while constructing the orig it's based on, then to some degree it's already a bit of a cash-in; and I'd rather at least have a little variety than a straight clone in that situation.
hmm, I wanna say that unless sequels were REALLY mapped out ahead of time (a la star wars IV-VI or the lord of the rings), then changes are ok as far as continuity goes, since sequels that WEREN'T carefully planned from the beginning are already going to feel different.

not necessarily - maybe devs just need more practice. for ex: didn't MGS4 sorta 'westernize' the control scheme, compared to prior MGS entries? and don't we mostly think it's an improvement?
I don't think the problem is opinion pieces in and of themselves. it's just that there are way too many SH1T opinion pieces posted to n4g IMO.

I admit I've never played the previous fallouts so I guess I can't criticize fans for wanting their original formula. BUT...

what clones (plural), aside from fallout3? and I think you gotta admit that even the 1 'oblivion clone' I'm acknowledging VASTLY improved the major fault of the existing elder scrolls games: the artificial, disconnected levelup system.
I've recently been replaying fable2 and there's definitely a manwhore in bloodstone. so I'll be extremely disappointed if fable3 gets dialed back.

well your fable2 appearance does affect the gameplay, kinda... I would say some devs do indeed work on making your appearance and/or moral inclination really affect the gameplay/story; with diff devs approaching this in diff ways. so IMO it has been and will continue to improve, at least.
I own only 360, but I assure you that the fable2 ending is utter TRASH.
it's still enjoyable though. I'm going back thru right now to get some missed achievements and muck around with my appearance...
"the ending was horrible" yes it was. but while the dog was pretty cool I guess, I find the customization & expressions are the best new/expanded features in fable2.

I'd feel worse if they weren't so guilty of milking.
also are we talking straight graphical upgrades? if these remakes end up involving updates to gameplay, music, art style, level design... remakes can be great ex: the man who sold the world.
I don't know much about kojima but I'd say it's unclear whether this is an attack and therefore we shouldn't be seeing 'slams' in the title. the author thinks kojima's comment is a thinly-veiled insult but do we really know for sure?
if it WERE an attack, I'd have to point out the well-crafted level design in orig bioshock and politely ask kojima to stop acting like a pr1ck...
